Written by David Schollaert
Nucor’s consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled coil increased to $1,005 per short ton (st), up $15/st from last week.
It’s the first time the CSP has exceeded the $1,000/st mark since the Nucor Sheet Group first rolled out its weekly pricing mechanism.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said in a letter on Monday, March 2, that the CSP for its West Coast joint venture, California Steel Industries (CSI), is also up $15/st week over week (w/w) to $1,055/st.
Lead times of 3 to 5 weeks will continue to be offered, according to the letter.
SMU’s HRC spot price averaged $980/st fob mill, east of the Rockies, as of Tuesday, Feb. 24, up $5/st vs. the previous assessment.
