Inclusions window opens for Section 232 tariffs on auto parts
Written by Laura Miller
The public will soon have the opportunity to request Section 232 tariff coverage on imports of automobile parts.
The quarterly inclusions submission window will be open from April 1 to April 14, according to a Federal Register notice filed by the US Commerce Department and Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).
All requests for tariff inclusions must be submitted to autoinclusions@trade.gov.
Following the two-week period, accepted inclusion requests will be posted for a two-week public comment period. Commerce and BIS will then decide whether to accept the requests.
Recall the Trump administration imposed 25% Section 232 tariffs on certain auto parts, effective May 3, 2025. This is separate from the Section 232 tariffs on automobiles. USMCA-compliant parts are exempt, except for any non-US content, which is still subject to the tariff.
