    Nucor hikes spot HR price by $10/ton

    Nucor raised its consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled (HR) coil by $10 per short ton (st) to $1,080/st.

    The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said in a letter to customers on Monday, May 11, the CSP for its West Coast joint venture, California Steel Industries (CSI), was $1,130/st, also up $10/st from the prior week.

    Lead times of 3 to 5 weeks will continue to be offered, the letter said.

    SMU’s HRC spot price averaged $1,075/st fob mill, east of the Rockies, as of Tuesday, May 5, up $5/st from the previous week.
