AISI reports strong mill shipments in June

Shipments from US steel mills were robust in June, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported Tuesday afternoon.
US mills shipped 8,536,500 short tons (st) of steel in June, a jump of 4.8% month on month and 8.7% year over year.
Year-to-date shipments of 47,527,101 st are up 5.3% over last year’s first half.
YTD shipments of corrosion-resistant (CORE) sheet and strip are up 14%, while hot-rolled sheet and strip are up 8%. YTD cold-rolled sheet and strip shipments are flat from last year, AISI said.
