    Nucor Holds Plate Prices Steady With Opening of June Books

    Nucor aims to keep plate prices flat with the opening of its June 2022 order book.

    The decision marks a departure for the Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker, which had increased plate prices on March 9 for April orders and again on March 31 for May orders.

    “Effective with new orders received as of April 28, 2022, the Nucor Plate Group will be maintaining prices set by our March 31, 2022 announcement,” the company said in a letter to customers.

    Recall that Nucor on March 31 increased plate prices by $55-$125 per ton ($2.75-6.25 per cwt) depending on the product.

    “All published adders/extras will be applied,” the company added.

    Flat pricing for June orders roughly follows recent trends in the spot market.

    Plate prices stood at $1,925 per ton ($96.25 per cwt) when SMU last assessed the market, little changed from $1,920 per ton the week prior.
