Wonder what the fallout from all the Trump tariffs might be? A manufacturing renaissance? A post-WWII order in ashes? Or something a little more down the middle?
Then register for our next Community Chat on Thursday, March 13 at 11 a.m. ET. Yes, you read that correctly: SMU is shattering precedent by holding a Community Chat on a day that is not Wednesday.
Our featured speaker will be Alan Price, a leading trade attorney at Wiley and someone whose columns you read regularly in SMU.
Alan is well-connected, knows this stuff like the back of his hand, and will be in a great position to tell you what that latest tariff news means for your business.
YES, THURSDAY
SMU usually hosts our Chats on Wednesdays. Why would we risk such a re-ordering of the world order? Because we want to bring you expert insights as soon as possible after renewed Section 232 tariffs go into effect on March 12.
This reboot of Section 232 means 25% tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum. No quotas. No exceptions. In fact, the tariffs will stretch further downstream than in 2018 and feature an addition process rather than an exemption one.
We’ll also talk about all the other pending Trump tariffs – blanket tariffs of 25% on all imports from Canada and Mexico, sectoral tariffs on things like automobiles and lumber, and reciprocal tariffs on VATs.
We might even talk about retaliation from other nations to the US tariffs. And potential US retaliation to those retaliatory measures… Also, I hear there is an important AD/CVD case on coated flat-rolled steel out there too.
Where does it end? What’s real, and what’s just posturing? SMU wants answers as much as you do. So bring some good questions to drop in the Q&A with Alan. And we look forward to seeing you on THURSDAY, March 13, at 11 a.m. ET. Register now!
