Commerce seeks comments on additional derivative items for S232 tariffs

The US Commerce Department is seeking additional comments on 14 derivative items for possible Section 232 duties.

Comments may be submitted at any time but must be received by Aug. 27, Commerce said.

The Bureau of Industry and Security announced that if the items are included within the scope of tariffs, all of these products would generally be subject to the 25% Section 232 tariff, according to a notice in The Federal Register last week. They include steel, aluminum, and copper items.

Some of the products are aluminum powder, parts of welding machines and apparatus, floor safes, certain electric conductor cables, certain filled steel containers, among others. (The full list can be found here.)

Recall the current Trump administration has expanded the range of derivative products subject to Section 232 duties.
