Benchmark hot rolled pricing has tightened, according to the various flat rolled steel indices we follow. With SteelBenchmarker reporting this past week all four indexes were within a few dollars of one another with SMU and Platts at $470 per ton, CRU $1 higher at $471 and SteelBenchmarker $3 higher at $473 per ton. Our average fell $11 per ton compared to the week earlier.

We also see the spread between the indexes on cold rolled has also tightened with Platts, CRU and SMU being at $605 or below and SteelBenchmarker at $612 per ton.

CRU and SMU both found .060” G90 galvanized to average $669 per ton.

The SMU Galvalume index average remained the same at $901 per ton for .0142 X AZ50, Grade 80.

Plate prices also adjusted lower for the week with all three indexes taking their plate averages lower.
