A rally on Friday in support of workers from Allegheny Technologies will be attended by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). Brown sent a letter to ATI President and CEO Richard Harshman in December calling for an end to the lockout.
“ATI’s reputation and its market penetration is due to a highly-skilled workforce that is recognized for its knowledge, dedication and commitment to quality,” wrote Brown.
“This lengthy dispute has already caused economic hardship for your employees and their families. Your company is critical for the economic health of Louisville.”

The picket line rally is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at ATI in Louisville, Ohio on Friday, Jan. 22.
Negotiations have resumed with ATI and the USW with the help of a federal mediator. So far there have been some compromises on minor issues but the two parties are still arguing over health benefits, scheduling and contracting out. The lockout has been in effect for more than five months.
