Calstrip Industries announced plans to build a $15 million steel processing plant on the Nucor campus near Blytheville, Ark.
The 100,000-square-foot first phase of the facility will be adjacent to Nucor Arkansas’ new specialty cold rolled mill, currently under construction. Calstrip will operate slitting and multi-blank cut-to-length lines at the Arkansas location and will create 45 new jobs.
The first phase of construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2018. Calstrip plans to eventually grow the facility to 300,000 square feet.
“We are excited to have Calstrip constructing a facility on our site. Investments like our specialty cold mill complex create opportunities like this to bring additional economic development and jobs to the local community,” said Vice President and General Manager of Nucor Steel Arkansas Mary Emily Slate.
This will be the fourth facility for Calstrip, which currently has operations in Mission, Texas, Santa Theresa, N.M., and Mira Loma, Calif. Calstrip provides products to the appliance, electrical lighting, construction, HVAC and automotive industries.
