An issue at the #3 blast furnace at U.S. Steel’s Edgar Thomson Plant at Mon Valley Works resulted in an unplanned outage on Tuesday. The furnace suffered a mechanical failure of its top charging equipment. Repairs are under way and expected to be completed in about one week, the company said.
A spokesperson for U.S. Steel said the incident will not impact customers.
