GrafTech International appointed Timothy K. Flanagan as the company’s president and CEO, effective March 26.
Since November, Flanagan had served as interim CEO of the Brooklyn Heights, Ohio-based electrode producer after the previous president and CEO stepped down.
Prior to that, Flanagan was GrafTech’s CFO, VP of finance and treasurer since joining the company in 2021. Before GrafTech, he served as EVP and CFO at Cleveland-Cliffs.
“After completing a comprehensive search, conducted with the assistance of a leading executive search firm, that considered both internal and external candidates, the board is confident that Tim is the right person to lead GrafTech forward to capitalize on the company’s competitive advantages and deliver long-term growth,” Henry R. Keizer, chair of the board of GrafTech, said in a statement on Wednesday.
Last month in its quarterly earnings report, GrafTech reported a reduction in production due to weak demand and pricing for graphite electrodes.
