Olympic Steel is celebrating Executive Chairman Michael D. Siegal’s 50th work anniversary and the company’s 70th year in business.
Olympic Steel began in 1954 as a steel distribution partnership founded by brothers Sol Siegal and Sam Sigel.
Michael Siegal, son of Sol Siegal, joined the Cleveland-based service center group in 1974. He became CEO in 1984 and then executive chairman in 2019.
“The organization is vastly different from when the Siegal family opened the business seventy years ago,” Andrew S. Greiff, president and COO, said in a statement on Wednesday. “We’ve grown far beyond the distribution of carbon steel to offer a wide range of metals products and value-added fabrication services.”
Olympic’s current CEO, Richard T. Marabito, is also celebrating 30 years with the company this year.
