Nucor is holding its hot-rolled (HR) coil base price flat for a third week.
The steelmaker told customers on Monday, Nov. 25, that its consumer spot price (CSP) for HR coil will be $750 per short ton (st) this week.
Additionally, the CSP for HR coil from California Steel Industries (CSI), Nucor’s West Coast joint-venture subsidiary, is unchanged this week at $810/st.
Having started November asking $740/st, Nucor held the weekly spot price basically flat for all of November.
The HR CSP has remained above the $700/st mark since the last week of August, according to SMU’s mill price announcement calendar.
Nucor’s Monday pricing letter noted the company’s mills would continue to offer 3-5-week lead times, but customers should reach out regarding availability.
In our Tuesday, Nov. 19, check of the market, SMU assessed current HR coil prices at $620-740/st, with an average of $680/st, and average HR lead times to be 4.6 weeks.
