European Commission seeks relief from Section 232 tariffs: Report
Written by Ethan Bernard
The European Commission is aiming to have Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum eased, with a special eye on derivative products, as it negotiates with the Trump administration, according to a Dec. 15 report in Politico.
EC Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič told the publication it was singling out derivatives of steel and aluminum.
“We are focusing on derivatives, we are focusing on some of the strategic machinery and the products of this side like medical devices and other things. But we are, of course, raising everything else,” Šefčovič said in an interview.
A request for comment from the European Commission was not returned by press time.
