Southeast Recycling Group to buy NuCycle, absorb Morris Scrap Metal
Written by Ethan Bernard
Southeast Recycling Group (SRG) said it will acquire the assets of NuCycle LLC, including an automobile shredder and auto parts yard (Carolina Salvage) in Rock Hill, S.C.
The transaction is anticipated to close by the end of the month. Simultaneously, Morris Scrap Metal Co. in Kings Mountain, N.C., will merge into SRG as a new partner.
Further terms of the deals were not disclosed.
When these two transactions are complete, SRG will operate a total of seven locations. It will have over 200 employees and an annual production of 300,000 gross tons of ferrous scrap and 150,000,000 pounds of nonferrous scrap.
Brothers Neil and Chris Morris are third-generation namesakes of Morris Scrap Metal, founded in 1931. Both will continue with SRG.
“The chance to become part of a growing company like SRG is exciting for us,” Neil Morris said in a statement on May 1. “And it is the right move at the right time for Morris Scrap.”
Salisbury, N.C.-based SRG was formed on Jan. 1, 2025, with the merger of Carolina Metals Group and Spartan Recycling Group. It acquired the assets of Sisk Scrap Recycling and its two facilities on Oct. 1, 2025.
