American Axle workers at Three Rivers plant OK potential strike

    Written by Ethan Bernard

American Axle (Dauch Corp.) workers in Three Rivers, Mich., have voted to authorize a strike.

United Auto Workers (UAW) union membership at the Detroit-based auto parts supplier has voted 98% to OK the strike if the company refuses to offer a “fair contract.”

The current contract expires May 31.

“We’ve waited long enough for this company to do the right thing, and we’re ready to do what it takes to win a fair deal at American Axle,” UAW Region 1D Director Steve Dawes said in a statement on Tuesday.

Workers at American Axle launched a work stoppage in 2008 that lasted just under three months.

Note that in January, American Axle changed its name to Dauch Corp. The Three Rivers plant is a supplier to General Motors.

A request for comment from Dauch Corp. was not received by time of publication.
