Convert Theoretical Nominal Weight Price To All Billing Methods

Theoretical Nominal Weight to Theoretical Minimum Weight

When converting theoretical nominal weight (TNW) to theoretical minimum weight (TMW), take the TNW decimal and divide by the TMW decimal.  Next divide by .9756 (Note:  .9756 is the difference between 40.8 lbs/per square foot (actual weight) and 41.82 lbs/per square foot (nominal weight). Then multiply by the TNW price.  This will give you the TMW price

In short:

  • Theoretical Nominal Weight Decimal ÷ TMW Decimal ÷ .9756 X TNW Price = TMW Price.

Theoretical Nominal Weight to Actual Weight

When converting TNW pricing to actual weight pricing, simply take the TNW decimal and divide by the average physical decimal.  Then divide that by .9756.  .9756 is the difference between 40.8 lbs/per square foot (actual weight) and 41.82 lbs/per square foot (nominal weight). Next multiply by the TNW price.  This will give you the actual weight price.

In short:

  •  TNW Decimal ÷ Average Decimal ÷ .9756 X TNW Price = Actual Weight Price.

Theoretical Nominal Weight to Linear Foot

When converting TNW pricing to linear foot pricing, take the TNW decimal and multiply by 41.82 (remember 41.82 represents the theoretical nominal pounds per square foot by one inch of thickness of steel).  Then multiply that figure by the TNW price per pound times the width of the coil in feet.  This will give you the price per linear foot.

In short:

  • TNW Decimal X 41.82 X TNW Price per Pound X Width of Coil in Feet = Price per Linear Foot.

Theoretical Nominal Weight to Square Feet

When converting TNW pricing to square foot pricing, simply take the TNW price per pound and multiply it by 41.82.  Then multiply that figure by the TNW decimal.  This will give you the price per square foot.

In short:

  •  TNW Price per Pound X 41.82 X TNW Decimal = Price per Square Foot.

Theoretical Nominal Weight to Price Per Sheet (PPS)

In order to take your TNW price and convert it to a PPS price, simply multiply the TNW price per pound by 41.82 (remember 41.82 represents the theoretical nominal pounds per square foot by one inch of thickness of steel). Next, multiply by the TNW decimal and then again by the total square feet.  This will give you the price per sheet.

In short:

  • TNW Price per Pound X 41.82 X TNW Decimal X Square feet in Sheet = Price per Sheet.
