April Heating and Cooling Equipment Shipments Up 8.2%

April heating and cooling equipment shipments were up 8.2 percent in April compared to one year ago, according to data released by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) last Friday. This is the higest year-over-year increase since October 2017 when there was an 8.6 percent increase.
Residential and commercial storage water heaters were up 13.1 percent year over year to a combined 784,830 units; 763,775 units were shipped for residential use and 21,055 units for commercial use.
Shipments of warm air furnaces totaled 232,326 units in April, up 9.3 compared to the same month last year.
Central air conditioners and air-source heat pump shipments rose 5.6 percent over a year ago to 732,858 total units; 489,558 air conditioners and 243,300 heat pumps were shipped.
