We are delighted to announce that the next Introduction to Steel Hedging: Managing Price Risk course will run in-person on Feb. 14-15, 2022, in Tampa, Fla. alongside the Tampa Steel Conference.
Don’t miss this opportunity to meet face-to-face with our expert instructors to gain a thorough introduction to hedging in the flat-rolled steel market and to take advantage of live class discussions and networking.
We will also be offering alternative dates for the virtual training on April 26-27, 2022, for those who are unable to make the February course.
Would you like to learn how to protect your business and minimize the risk associated with unfavorable price changes by understanding what exactly is meant by “hedging a position”? Take the beginner’s course and you will quickly gain a concrete understanding of hedging basics. You will also learn what benefits and risks are involved in choosing a steel hedging strategy.
This workshop will help you to understand:
- What “hedging” is and why so many companies do it
- What makes hedging in steel different from hedging in other commodities
- The structure of the market and the mechanics of how trades are executed
- The costs and risk involved
You can find out more about the course and view the schedule here.
Led by hedging and metals expert Spencer Johnson of StoneX, this workshop will benefit anyone who is looking for a concise introductory or refresher course.
“SMU has done a great job of providing these workshops, from beginner to more advanced. They’ve done a great job of helping to educate the community as a whole. Our company is a very strong believer in training. We’ve sent all levels of people in our team, from CFO to VP of Production and buyers – all attending these workshops to continue to get educated as we move forward and to help our risk management strategy.”
– Chris Shipp, Vice President – Supply Chain, Priefert Steel
The cost to attend is $1,750 per person. SMU/CRU subscribers can save $100 plus an additional $100 per person for companies that register two or more people for the same workshop. Click here for more information and to register.
