Nucor Drops Discrete Plate Prices $120/Ton, CTL Sizes Flat

Nucor Corp. is significantly lowering plate prices effective immediately, largely impacting its November plate order book.
The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker said discrete plate prices, as well as prices for normalized plate, will be $120 per ton ($6 per cwt) lower. Prices for certain cut-to-length items are unchanged from its Sept. 2 price announcement.
“We reserve the right to review and re-quote any offers that are not confirmed with either a Nucor sales acknowledgement or written acceptance by both parties,” the company said in a letter to customers on Monday, Sept. 19.
All published adders and extras will be applied, the company said.
Nucor earlier this month kept prices flat for quench-and-temper and normalized plate with the opening of its October order book. The company in July lowered prices by similar amounts with the opening of its September book.
Prices for three cut-to-length sizes—84-inches wide, 72-inches wide, and 60-inches wide—are unchanged from when the company last adjusted them on Sept. 2, Nucor said
