    Written by Brett Linton

Nucor’s weekly consumer spot price (CSP) for hot-rolled (HR) coil was adjusted $10 per short ton (st) lower this week after holding steady last week.

As of Monday, August 4, the CSP stands at $890/st. It was $900/st each of the past two weeks and $910/st one month prior.

The HR coil base price for Nucor’s joint venture subsidiary, California Steel Industries (CSI), was also adjusted $10/st lower to $950/st, down from $970/st four weeks ago.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based steelmaker noted that lead times of three to five weeks remain available, and customers should contact their district sales manager for availability. Published extras will apply to all spot transactions.

SMU’s July 29 market check found HR spot prices ranging from $780-900/st, with an average of $840/st. Our HRC index fell $5/st week over week and has declined by $40/st across the last four weeks. Updated indices will be published tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

SMU members can view historical flat rolled and plate price announcements on our steel mill price announcement calendar.
