The price gap between US hot-rolled coil (HR) and landed offshore product continues to narrow. The premium for US hot band is now, on average, at its lowest level since July.
SMU’s average price for domestic HR was $910 per short ton (st) this week, $15/st higher week on week (w/w). In offshore markets last week, prices were mostly higher as well.
Worthington Enterprises reported higher fiscal first-quarter sales and earnings while citing rapidly growing data center demand and continued tightness in the steel market.
Sheet and plate prices continued to tick mostly higher this week amid a supply squeeze that shows no signs of loosening its grip on the US market.

The scrap market for October is looking for direction as some participants on both sides of the furnace are indicating scrap prices are poised for an increase.
