Tenaris plans $90M upgrade to Pennsylvania facilities
Written by Laura Miller
Tenaris is planning major upgrades to its Pennsylvania operations.
The Luxembourg-based company announced an investment of more than $90 million for its steel shop and scrap processing facility in Koppel, Pa., and its seamless pipe manufacturing plant in Ambridge, Pa.
The investment will focus on modernizing the facilities with automation and production efficiency.
Upgrades will be made to multiple areas, including the electric-arc furnace (EAF) in Koppel, which will see increased production capacity as a result. Koppel will also add a steel bar yard paired with a new bar cutting area.
A shredder upgrade is also planned at Steel Recycling Services, a Tenaris scrap processing subsidiary since its acquisition from SA Recycling. It is located next to its steel shop in Koppel.
“This improvement plan is another important step to bring our long-term vision for our Ambridge and Koppel facilities to fruition,” said Tenaris US President Guillermo Moreno. “As demand for American energy grows, we will continue to prioritize investments that maintain our standing as a reliable partner for U.S. operators.”
Work will begin in the coming months, the company said, with most of the projects extending into the second half of 2027.
