Oregon Steel Mills (OSM) on Friday announced efforts to increase plate prices.

The Portland, Ore.-based company is attempting to push spot plate prices up by at least $60 per short ton (st).

OSM told customers on May 1 that the increase would be effective immediately with all new orders. The price hike applies equally to all carbon, HSLA, hot-rolled coil, normalized, and quenched and tempered products, the company said.

OSM has attempted to increase plate prices by roughly $360/st since September, according to SMU’s mill price announcement calendar.

SMU’s plate price assessment stood at $1,215/st on average as of Tuesday, April 28. Plate prices are up $25/st w/w and now stand at their highest levels in two years.

We will next update plate prices on Tuesday afternoon.
