Oregon Steel Mills (OSM) on Tuesday evening announced efforts to increase plate prices.

The Portland, Ore.-based company is attempting to push spot plate prices up by at least $60 per short ton (st).

OSM told customers on July 14 that the increase would be effective immediately with all new orders. The price hike applies equally to all carbon, HSLA, hot-rolled coil, normalized, and quenched and tempered products, the company said.

OSM has attempted to increase plate prices by roughly $420/st since September, according to SMU’s mill price announcement calendar.

SMU’s plate price assessment averaged $1,350/st as of Tuesday, July 14. Plate prices are up $15/st w/w and now stand at their highest levels in over two years.
