DOC Issues Preliminary CVD Determination on Rectangular Welded Pipe and Tube from Turkey

On Dec. 21, the Department of Commerce (Commerce) announced its affirmative preliminary determination in the countervailing duty (CVD) investigation of imports of heavy walled rectangular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes from Turkey.

The investigation covers heavy walled rectangular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes, which are rectangular (including square) welded carbon steel pipes and tubes that have a wall thickness of 4 mm or greater. The products are used for support for construction or load-bearing purposes in construction, farm, transportation, and material handling equipment and are commonly referred to as structural tubing.

According to information from the DOC report, imports of heavy walled rectangular welded carbon steel pipes and tubes from Turkey increased from 30,700 tonnes in 2012 to 56,300 tons in 2014.

The Department of Commerce will issue its Final Determination May 2, 2016. If the DOC determination is in the affirmative, the U.S. International Trade Commission will release its Final Determination on June 16, 2016. The Issuance of Order is scheduled for June 23, 2016.
